Each Friday I share the first chapter of a favorite book for middle schoolers. Today I’ll be reading aloud the first chapter of a book and main character that completely won my heart, The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart. Coyote is smart, lives in a bus, and has a BIG secret... well actually a couple of secrets.
Book Blurb: Coyote hasn’t been home in five years, but when she learns that the park in her old neighborhood is being demolished―the very same park where she, her deceased mom and sisters buried a treasured memory box―she devises an elaborate plan to get her dad to drive 3,600 miles back to Washington state in four days...without him realizing it.
