Writing Prompt: Mysterious Shipwreck
PROMPT:
There are all sorts of rumors about a mysterious shipwreck that lies beneath the waters of the harbor in town. Concealed truths and dangerous secrets are lying just below the surface. Is there a conspiracy sunken just off the shore or did mother nature just get angry?
TEACHER TIPS:
Ask students to brainstorm a list of possible ideas for 1 minute before starting. Often times the first idea we have isn't our best... it's jsut what we thought of first (and usually becuase it is familiar and cliche!). Push your students to generate 3-5 ideas for what is sunken off shore AND THEN choose one to write about! If you take this extra step, you'll be delighted by the wider variety of imaginative ideas you'll get to read!
